GramTel Expands Data Center Locations with Grand Rapids Site

South Bend, Ind. – GramTel announces today that it has acquired a data center formerly owned and operated by Crowe Chizek and Company, LLC. The data center is located in Bridgewater Place in Grand Rapids, Mich. This latest location is GramTel’s fifth data center, joining two sites in South Bend, Ind., and others in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Lombard,IL.

Crowe continues to be a GramTel client, but has decided to exit the data center hosting business to remain focused on its core service offerings. GramTel was uniquely positioned to acquire the data center and provide its clients opportunities for enhanced service offerings.
The Grand Rapids facility mirrors the state-of-the-art technology that is standard with all company sites, including high-capacity cooling systems and diesel generators, security and surveillance, redundant Cisco-powered networks and multiple-carrier fail-over Internet connectivity.

According to GramTel President and CEO, Tracy D. Graham, “The GramTel mission is to prevent and respond to emergencies that may cause information technology systems to become unavailable. Key to delivering on that mission is having multiple, strategically located data centers, all of which are connected via dark fiber and monitored by certified personnel 24/7/365. Adding this facility reinforces our pledge to keep our clients’ data safe, secure and compliant.”

All GramTel Midwest data centers are located in secondary markets with close proximity to major cities, offering clients a number of flexible options. They may choose to locate their primary operations at one location and disaster recovery data at a second location – a strategy that decreases risk and increases safety. Another option is to use two GramTel facilities to back up critical information through the direct fiber connection, which allows organizations to store multiple copies of their data off-site.

“Our facilities provide ‘safe-site’ solutions to combat downtime for critical IT data. Businesses are keenly aware of the importance of keeping data safe in the event of disaster, whether it is a large natural disaster or a small server failure. The fact that all of our locations provide cutting-edge technology, are staffed with experienced professionals, and are cost effective are important advantages for our clients,” added Graham.

Graham notes that the company has become known nationally for its expertise in business continuity planning, disaster recovery, data backup, enterprise-class monitoring, and excellent customer service. “Most businesses today are technology-driven and cannot afford computer system downtime. We offer safe storage and immediate access to our clients’ information. Our full-service capabilities are attractive to our clients,” he said.

GramTel was founded in 2000 and is a subsidiary of Jordan Industries, Inc., in Chicago. It provides disaster recovery/business continuity services, data backup, and co-location services. For more information, visit www.gramtel.net.
