Dedicated and on-demand standby servers

GramTel’s standby servers are dedicated servers that are housed at one of our data centers for on-demand recovery purposes. Replacement hardware allows our clients to have access to off-site servers that can be used to recover their business-critical systems in the event of an unplanned hardware failure.

Options for the use of your standby backup servers depend on your company’s Recovery Time Objective (RTO), which is the amount of time in which an application or function can be unavailable before your organization suffers a negative impact.

For example, if your company’s recovery time objective is 15 minutes or less, we recommend that dedicated servers located in GramTel’s data center be mirrored with your production servers at your facility for a high-availability environment. The data is sent from the production servers at your facility to the dedicated servers at our facility. Your network environment would be engineered to allow for the failover between the two environments.
